MICROingranaggi: green light for the production and sale of grinding worms

It’s important to have the ability to predict what will happen in the medium term, I wrote some time ago, in order to allow the necessary time to plan a new investment or to acquire a technology or know-how and thus move to where the market is more fertile.

Very true and I can confirm it. But when you start a fresh project or a new business and decide to invest time and resources in that direction, it often happens that you have to review the operational daily life of the entire company (various divisions and production workshop) that it involves completely. Precisely, sometimes, this devote precious time that otherwise would of course be dedicated to new activities. This doesn’t detract from the fact that investing in new projects, trying to meet deadlines earlier and to give added value to our offer remains a fundamental factor for the growth of a company.

Having stated that, I will get to the point.
Around the beginning of last year I announced that we would be starting a phase of experimentation related to the production and sale of grinding worms, a need arising from an increase in requests for this type of processing from our customers.
Today, just over one year later,

we can finally announce that the experimentation phase is over and that we will soon be operating on this front and, in particular, on the grinding of small series of extremely precise pieces.

Precisely because of the nature of the components we will be grind, the fields of application we intend to focus on will mainly be robotics, nuclear power, prototyping and aerospace, but without setting limits on other market segments.

And just to clarify. We are aware of the fact that there are several Italian companies who specialise in this field. Businesses equipped with grinding machines for large volumes, ideal for the nature of the orders with which they deal daily.
As you can imagine, it’s not these companies that we aim to compete against, also because – as worm grinding is not our core business and as we are not equipped with hyperspecialized machines such as the ones I have just mentioned – we would never reach the same levels of productivity, never mind about being competitive.

Speaking daily with our customers, however, we realized that there are many companies that deal with small production batches that need this sort of service. Those same businesses, however, are struggling to find a supplier in line with their needs, because the equipment of specialized machinery for this kind of work (with palletisers, anthropomorphic robots and so on) requires time and resources, which could never be amortized with small series.

With our equipment, however,

we believe we can be flexible enough to be able to create prototypes and small series of high-precision pieces, perhaps even going beyond the precision of grinding, precisely because the machine we will be using is very small, compact and able to perform complex machining with very few movements .
