Although it is natural to associate excessive noise with defective or poorly manufactured gears, this assumption is only partially correct. It has a direct influence on the acoustic behavior of the transmission, meaning that a well-designed gearbox can be not only mechanically robust and efficient, but also significantly quieter.<\/h2>\n<p>At MICROingranaggi, for example, we manufacture miniature and micro gears that enable the development of quiet, high-precision transmissions for demanding applications where compactness and high performance must coexist.<\/p>\n<p>In general,<\/p>\n<h2>when the required transmitted torque allows it and the gears still provide adequate strength, selecting a smaller module can be an effective way to reduce noise while improving transmission efficiency.<\/h2>\n<p>From a practical standpoint, reducing the gear module offers three main advantages.<\/p>\n<p>First, for the same pitch diameter, the gear has a higher number of teeth. This increases the frequency of tooth engagement while reducing the impact of each individual contact.<\/p>\n<p>Second, vibration amplitudes decrease because the transmitted loads are distributed more evenly along the tooth profile.<\/p>\n<p>Third, angular velocity fluctuations are reduced, resulting in lower dynamic excitation and, consequently, lower noise emissions.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, module selection must always represent the best compromise between load-carrying capacity, efficiency, manufacturing constraints and acoustic performance.
